Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse

Are you or a family member suffering from a wound that won’t heal, facing ostomy surgery, or having problems with your ostomy? Nemaha County Hospital staffs a Certified Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurse (WOCN), who treats these issues using evidence-based treatments that include: nutrition, appropriate dressing selection for wounds and management of illnesses that affect healing.  

Wound Care:

  • Nutritional assessment
  • Appropriate dressing selection
  • Management of illnesses that affect healing such as diabetes, venous and/or arterial disease

Ostomy Care: 

Ostomy Care includes assessment and selection of an appropriate ostomy appliance and management of skin issues to assist patients to return to their previous level of independence.

  • Comprehensive assessment for appropriate product selection
  • Management of skin issues
  • Nutritional instruction
