Nemaha County Hospital participates in the World Health Organization Surgical Safety Initiative.
Surgical patients are required to see their local physician within 30 days or less depending on the type of surgery. This time frame is established by Medicare. The lab work required is determined by your physician and the type of surgery you need. Some cases do require type and cross match. That is accomplished at the hospital lab within 48 hours of surgery, if it is a scheduled case.
Our anesthesia is provided by a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. We provide local sedation to monitored anesthesia care (MAC) and general anesthesia.
The gastroenterologist comes the second Tuesday of the month. He performs:
One obstetric gynecological specialist comes on the first Tuesday of the month and operates on the third Monday of the month. Includes prenatal and postnatal care. Procedures performed are:
Cataract surgery and evaluations are done here on the third Thursday of the month. You must have an evaluation completed by the ophthalmologist prior to the surgery. Laser capsulotomies and other minor eye procedures can also be done.
The urologist comes the first and third Tuesdays of the month.
Ear, Nose and Throat
The ENT doctors are here the second Thursday of every other month and every other Wednesday.
